Oklahoma Planning Commission approves soccer complex
Posted on Apr 9th, 2017

The Oklahoma County Planning Commission on Thursday approved the 160-acre Edmond Indoor-Outdoor Soccer Complex, said Ray Vaughn, county commissioner.
The planned unit development describes this project to be located outside of the City of Edmond approximately 1,000 feet north of the intersection of N.W. 178th Street and Meridian and located on the west side of Meridian in Oklahoma City.
“I thought this is a great project and a nice addition to Edmond,” Vaughn said of the Edmond area project. “It will certainly lend itself nicely to the soccer facilities up that way.”
Robert Rowe will be the property owner of the site that is currently owned by Charles Engles, Jr.
The building will have two indoor soccer fields and a practice field for soccer. It will also house two basket ball courts, offices and a small retail area, according to the PUD statement prepared by MA+Architecture  LLC, of Oklahoma City.
Half of the 160-acre site is above a flood zone.
“A small portion of the site that fronts Meridian Avenue is above this flood zone elevation,” according to the PUD. “This is the area which will be used to provide access from Meridian Avenue to the site. This will prevent any disruption of natural drainage across the site.”
